Age doesn't diminish the desire to have fun and enjoy activities beyond the normal routine. At Barton there is an atmosphere of freedom for the residents to continue their favorite past times, rekindle past interests, or discover new opportunities.
It is a known fact that older adults need to keep themselves active to ensure they are in the best health possible. It can relieve aches and pains and reduce the chance of them developing serious health problems. We provide access to a range of activities to keep the residents active and keep them from becoming isolated.
The staff at Barton Place organizes all kinds of fun and interesting activities regularly for the residents to keep them moving. Whether it is a trip to one of the local areas of interest, a historic site in Rome, a community event in the park listening to music, going apple picking, visiting a local preschool daycare center to interact with the children, or visiting local horse farms, each day has its own special activities to look forward to. We also provide transportation to church services, as well as trips to Turning Stone Casino, Sylvan Beach, Jervis Library, Fort Stanwix and Oriskany Monument.
Along with special day trips and extra events planned there are many activities to partake of right in the Barton Place. There are beautiful gardens to tend, write to a pen-pal (local 4th-6th graders), play board games or cards with other residents, engage in arts and crafts, socialize with local college and church volunteers, and socialize with other residents.
With a 24-hr. Professional staff who arranges and supervises activities it is much easier to keep active. Everyone knows it more motivating to move when things are planned, there is a schedule and others are involved.
